Five More Minutes With Spends Time Writing a Eulogy

Written by Braiden Rex-Johnson on August 26, 2013

Cemetery headstones

Have you ever wondered how your tombstone will read? Or what people might say for your eulogy?

Now, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can actually write your own eulogy before you are gone, thanks to the good folks at MyOwnEulogy.com.

I like to browse the eulogies people and click on the videos subscribers have created. The music they choose says a lot!

There’s a Sympathy Store where you can send bouquets and fruit baskets to the bereaved, sympathy advisors, and even a Live Chat area.

Five More Minutes With Spends Time with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Written by Braiden Rex-Johnson on August 19, 2013

Hipstamatic Angel

Recently, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was on tour in Memphis, Tennessee.

At local St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a little girl had been admitted with an aggressive form of brain cancer. After her first chemo treatment, she was unable to be in crowds and couldn’t attend the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s concert the night before.

Somehow, her family sent a request suggesting that perhaps a few of the choir members could meet the young girl at a hotel lobby.

See what happened, when the little family, so distraught with their daughter’s cancer, walked into the lobby!

Thinking of My Mother. . .

Written by Braiden Rex-Johnson on August 13, 2013

On the eighth anniversary of her death. I will remain forever grateful to her for many things, including being part of the inspiration for the Five More Minutes With website. Thank you, darling Mom!

Mom at longwood gardens

Here is one of my all-time favorite photos of her (don’t you love the silver mink stole and orchid-print dress?!?!), which is saying A LOT since she was quite photogenic and beautiful in person (people always said she looked like Kathryn Hepburn).

I’d also like to send my love to our darling Bo-Bo, whose ninth death date we observed over the weekend. We will always miss you and toast to you forever, darling Bo!

Poem: Five More Minutes With Spends Five Minutes With “Tree”

Written by Poet Jane Hirshfield on August 12, 2013

Inspiring Moment: Mossy Tree

This beautiful poem, very much in the Five More Minutes With zeitgeist, was written by National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry nominee Jane Hirshfield.

Tree

It is foolish

to let a young redwood

grow next to a house.

Even in this

one lifetime,

you will have to choose.

That great calm being,

this clutter of soup pots and books –

Already the first branch-tips brush at the window.

Softly, calmly, immensity taps at your life.

Five More Minutes With Spends 2.29 Seconds With “The Life of Flowers”

Written by Braiden Rex-Johnson on August 5, 2013

Inspiring Moment: White-Spotted Red Flowers

This truly inspiring Vimeo clip, entitled, “The Life of Flowers,” shows off of multitude of gorgeous buds in the process of blossoming.

According to the email in which I received the link, “Each flower is filmed for two days, and photos are collated within seven minutes to get this effect.”

It is truly magnificent. Enjoy!
